Ubuntu is more than a philosophy. Translated from the
languages of Southern Africa, Ubuntu speaks to the
heart of identity: "I am a person through others."

Our Mission

To create economic empowerment in disadvantaged communities through the delivery of practical business skills and knowledge programmes.

To change the way people think about their lives, their relationships, their accountability and attitude about who is responsible for their financial, relational and personal success.

To increase the relevance of the role of the church, community, educational and political leaders in the battle against unemployment and poverty.

To breathe confidence and hope into disadvantaged individuals, families and communities.

Problems We Are Tackling

Poverty

One of the oldest and most resistant of viruses in our world today. Poverty is a pandemic that impacts human life on a day-to-day basis in South Africa and around the world. People lack basic human needs to sustain themselves; food, clothing, housing, clean water, health services and education.

Hopelessness

The challenges created by unemployment and lack of education are so daunting people of all ages, especially the youth can’t find their path to personal success. They see no way out, no way to change their circumstances and so they resort to crime or rely on their elders to support them, placing a higher burden on the older generations who are also struggling.

Attitude & Accountability

There is a strong belief that it is the government’s responsibility to hand out jobs or financial aid resulting in a disillusioned, angry and unproductive generation. Creating and being responsible for your own path to success is unfamiliar and difficult for people to understand and accept.

The impact we are having

We are changing lives.  Individuals who were living on the streets are now home owners, taking care of themselves, their children and in some cases their parents.  That’s three generations we are impacting.

We are educating many.  We have been able to reach over 1,000 people with the message of Ubuntu Mission through our workshops, seminars and one-on-one coaching sessions.

We are building the economy.  Over 20 new businesses have been started.  Existing businesses have grown significantly and many individuals have either found employment after being unemployed for some time or are finding new and better jobs.

Why it matters to you

Everyone is impacted by the burden of poverty in the world and everyone can make a difference!

In a globalized world, countries large and small are interdependent. Poverty drives up cost of living, crime, immigration and puts a strain on already stretched resources worldwide.

The great nations of the world have benefited significantly from the resources in poorer countries and therefore have a humanitarian and ethical duty to contribute to the development of these nations.

It's not just a matter of the heart. Why you should care goes beyond humanitarian and ethical obligations, we also need to protect future markets, provide geo-political security and stability, conserve the environment and control disease pandemics.
